Jada Hudson (M.S., LCPC, CADC), is a licensed clinical counselor and owner of Hudson Clinical Counseling. She has helped individuals heal, grow and live for more than 20 years.
Jada counsels many populations of individuals like first responders, who have experienced occupational stress and trauma, as well as women, children and adolescents struggling to manage life’s transitions or emotional challenges. Jada employs client-centered therapy, which means clients take an active role in employing strategies for healing. She creates a safe, non-judgmental, and open experience to guide clients to resolution or adaptation to their life challenges.
Jada recently received specialized training to counsel firefighters, police, dispach, and other law enforcement officers. The Illinois Fire Chief’s Educational and Research Foundation provided a grant to establish the rigorous curriculum, which involves a combination of classroom, supervised counseling and ride-along time with active duty firefighters. She has also worked with patients within the Florian Program, an inpatient program for treatment of substance abuse for first responders, at the Rosecrance Harrison Campus in Rockford, IL. Jada is dedicated to counseling this specialized group of first responders.
Jada received her certification as a Recovery Coach from Governor’s State University through the Illinois Department of Human Services Division of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse. She earned her CADC (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor) from the Illinois Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Professional Certification Association, Inc. in November, 2016.
Throughout Jada’s career, she has helped children and adolescents face their emotional challenges and life transitions in order to heal, grow, and live. As a high school and college counselor for 15 years, she gained insight and experience in general counseling, as well as personality assessment and academic and career counseling. She also has experience in pediatric oncology and domestic abuse counseling.
Between motherhood, career, and caring for family, women experience many transitions that can be emotionally unsettling or even traumatic. Jada enjoys working with women to manage these life changes to heal, grow, and live. She has experience working in a women’s domestic abuse shelter and has a thorough understanding of the cycle of violence.
Jada takes an eclectic approach to counseling, which combines techniques from client-centered therapies that empower the client with the tools they need to overcome their particular challenges. Jada’s training in clinical psychology included a rigorous curriculum with Alexey Shukin, Ph.D., who was mentored by Carl Rogers, the father of client-based therapy.
