Throughout my career, in fact, throughout my life, I’ve always had one main mission: to walk beside others through life’s most difficult transitions and help them live successful lives. As a counselor, I help clients deal with unhealthy relationships, or the stressful effects of a demanding job, like firefighting or law enforcement. I help them deal with grief in a positive way or transition to a new career move or new phase in life.
After graduation from Western Illinois University with a B.S. in Psychology, I spent my early clinical years counseling terminally ill children and their parents, and in crisis intervention for domestic violence victims. My career path took me into the high schools, then colleges and universities, where I began counseling young adults towards their academic, personal, and career development goals.
I received my M.S. in Clinical Psychology from Benedictine University, and later, my school counseling license from Lewis University. I currently work with developmental challenges, suicide prevention, bereavement, stress management, anxiety disorders, substance abuse, and more. I employ client-centered therapy, so together we discover the tools and strategies you need for success.
I am also a life-long learner and continually expanding my skills and certifications. Most recently, I became one of the first clinicians in the state to receive specialized training to counsel firefighters and first responders. I am proud to serve the growing population of firefighters and law enforcement, who deal with mental health issues because of their emotionally demanding occupations.
