Jada Hudson (M.S., LCPC, CADC), is a licensed clinical professional counselor and owner of Hudson Clinical Counseling with offices in the Chicago area. She has helped individuals heal, grow and live for more than 20 years.
Jada recognizes the unfortunate truth that the people who protect us from physical harm in their line of duty are often the ones emotionally harmed in the process. That’s why she recently became one of the very first specially trained firefighter counselors in the State of Illinois and has dedicated herself to this specialized group, with specializations in substance abuse, pediatric death, and PTSD. Jada received her certification as a Recovery Coach from Governor’s State University through the Illinois Department of Human Services Division of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse. She recently earned her CADC (Certified Alcohol and Other Drug Counselor) from the Illinois Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Professional Certification Association, Inc.
As a firefighter and first responder counselor in Chicago, Jada helps patients work through important issues unique to firefighters, their occupational stresses and lifestyle, including:
In 2013 in response to the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation’s (NFFF) “Everyone Goes Home” project, 16 Life Safety Initiatives were developed, including number 13, which mandates access to counseling and psychological services for all firefighters. In response, the Illinois Fire Chief’s Educational and Research Foundation provided a grant to establish a specialized training program for firefighter counseling. The rigorous curriculum requires 40 hours of classroom time, 40 hours of supervised one-on-one counseling, and 40 hours of ride-along time with active duty firefighters. Jada’s counseling experience also includes working with patients within the Florian Program, an inpatient program for treatment of substance abuse for firefighters and paramedics, at the Rosecrance Harrison Campus in Rockford, IL. Jada has recently become a part of the advisory committee for the emotional wellness curriculum used at the Illinois Fire Service Institute in Champaign, IL.
Jada employs client-centered therapy, which means clients take an active role in employing strategies for healing. She creates a safe, non-judgmental, and open experience to guide clients to resolution or adaptation to their life challenges.
