Jada Hudson (M.S., LCPC, CADC), is a licensed clinical counselor and owner of Hudson Clinical Counseling. Jada explores and identifies areas and issues that need change in her client’s lives and helps them employ strategies to help her clients heal, grow and live.
Jada is trained to counsel first responders, who have experienced occupational stress and trauma, as well as women, children and teens struggling to manage life’s transitions. Jada has an eclectic approach which combines techniques from client-centered therapies that empower the client with the tools they need to overcome their particular challenges. She received her certification as a Recovery Coach from Governor’s State University through the Illinois Department of Human Services Division of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse. She recently earned her CADC (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor) by the Illinois Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Professional Certification Association, Inc.
Jada has specialized training for first responders and has dedicated herself to gaining a working knowledge of the unique firefighter culture and experience. She offers support and counseling to first responders, who have to deal with an overwhelming amount of emotional and psychological stress related to their profession. She has also worked with patients within the Florian Program, an inpatient program for treatment of substance abuse for firefighters and paramedics, at the Rosecrance Harrison Campus in Rockford, IL. She also runs a relapse prevention group for firefighters. Most recently, Jada was asked to join the advisory committee for the emotional wellness curriculum for the Illinois Fire Service Institute in Champaign, IL.
Using her 15 years of experience as a high school and college counselor, Jada, as a Downers Grove counselor, helps children and adolescents with behavioral and mental health counseling as well as personality assessments and academic and career counseling. Throughout her career, she has helped her young clients explore and identify the areas and issues detrimental to their emotional well-being. She also has experience in domestic abuse, sexual assault and grief and loss counseling.
Jada understands the special needs of women. Her training in clinical psychology included a rigorous curriculum with Alexey Shukin, Ph.D., who was mentored by Carl Rogers, the father of client-based therapy. Utilizing this training as a Downers Grove Counselor, she helps her clients find the tools they need to manage the stresses of motherhood, a career, and caring for their families. Women will learn to identify the areas that need change in their life and employ insightful strategies to heal, grow, and live. Jada also has experience working in a women’s domestic abuse shelter and has a thorough understanding of the cycle of violence.
